Earth Day: My Early Childhood Education and Experience

Today, April 22, 2012 is the Earth Day. This year's theme is "Mobilize the Earth" and I, as a blogger, will join this event by sharing my experiences when I was a child, on how to dispose the garbage properly and my hobby. Although it is not related to the theme but it doesn’t matter to me.

Mother Earth is aging and that is the truth and you can’t make her younger using Olay. People's greediness is damaging the environment and the balance of nature. Hey! Are you really numb or just a person who doesn't care on what will happen to others?

I saw people who threw their garbage on the sidewalk although it is not a dump site or a garbage bin. When I caught my friends throwing their garbage on the sidewalk or put it in a hole on a chair or in a small hole on an establishment, I called their attention and stop them by telling that it is a wrong act and told them not to blame other when time comes but blame their self. And I asked myself, were they taught by their teacher when they’re still a kid on the proper waste disposal?

When I was five (5) years old, our teacher taught us the proper way of disposing our garbage. Yes! At that early age, I already know how to dispose my garbage on a proper way. But when I was on Grade 1 (six (6) years old), I observed that my classmates forgot what our teacher taught us. I was sad and because of that I always telling them that it is bad to throw their garbage anywhere.

When I was eight (8) years old, my mother always get mad at me because I always kept things that for her it was garbage but for me is not. I found myself hesitating on throwing things because for me, time will come and those things they thought is garbage will be the key to solve a certain problem (recycling/reuse). And also, my mother asked me why my pockets on my pants smells like there was a juice inside or sometimes she found a wrapper of candies on it. It is because when I didn’t find a garbage bin (trash can), I used my pockets as an alternative for garbage bin and when the time comes that there will be a garbage bin, and I’ll throw it on that garbage bin.

I really like planting trees, flowers and vegetables and it was my hobby. I do have my own garden when I was 10 years old, in our backyard. And sometimes, we harvested the vegetables that I had planted. It was a very good experience and feeling that you actually harvested vegetables from your own garden.

Now, I realized that my early childhood education and experience was so great. I know that it was just a simple action, but I did something helpful to Mother Earth, and I am happy with that.

And now, I am shouting here on the Blogosphere to STOP IRRESPONSIBLE AND IMPROPER WASTE DISPOSAL and GO FOR RESPONSIBLE AND PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL AND GO PLANTING PLANTS.
