A very hurtful tragedy happened last May 10, 2012 at Butuan City. As we all know, there were 17 people who died on that fire and most of them were non-butuanon or came from different parts of Mindanao and there were 2 survivors.
According to a news, the families of the victims got money with more or less two houndred sixty thousand pesos each; two hundred thousand pesos from the NOVO Department Store for the funeral, burial and transportation, also the DSWD Butuan gave fifteen thousand pesos, NDRRMC with ten thousand pesos, Butuan Govt gave five thousand pesos, DILG with fifteen thousand pesos and Vice President Binay with three thousand pesos and other organizations.
